Lore Group has appointed Kristie Rasheed as Managing Director, U.S. Hotels, according to Breaking Travel News.

Which Lore Group hotels are in her remit?

Rasheed will oversee Lore Group’s U.S. operations for Riggs Washington DC, Lyle Washington DC and Hotel Park Ave NYC. Her remit covers operational performance and financial strategy across these three hotels.

The stated responsibilities are:

  • Operational performance and financial strategy across the U.S. portfolio.
  • Service and hospitality standards at each property.
  • Commercial strategy and financial optimisation teams for independent hotels.
  • Operational teams intended to support each property while retaining its individual character.

The announcement concerns management and hotel operations rather than a new accommodation format. It does not introduce changes to room types, rates, minimum stays, cancellation terms, meal plans, kitchens or other booking conditions.

What will Rasheed be responsible for?

Rasheed will lead the group’s U.S. hotel operations and work on financial performance, service standards and commercial strategy. Lore Group says she will also help independent properties build operational, commercial and financial optimisation teams while preserving the distinctive character of each hotel.

Taylor said Rasheed’s background and ability to build teams would make her suitable for the group’s expanding portfolio.

"Kristie brings a rare combination of operational expertise, commercial instinct and an understanding of what makes independent hotels successful," — David Taylor, CEO of Lore Group

What experience does Rasheed bring?

Rasheed has more than 20 years of experience in revenue, profitability and operational performance across luxury hotels, resorts and vacation-rental portfolios (HOTELSMag.com). Her most recent position was Vice President of Operations at Olympia Hospitality, where she oversaw more than 40 hotels, including independent properties and hotels carrying Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott brands.

At Olympia Hospitality, Rasheed led a regional team covering operations, food and beverage and facilities. She also worked with property owners and asset managers on financial performance, acquisitions and property transitions.

Before Olympia Hospitality, Rasheed was Managing Director and General Manager of The Dewberry in Charleston, South Carolina. Earlier senior roles included Destination Hotels and Resorts and Wyndham Vacation Rentals, where her work covered revenue optimisation, business strategy, marketing, sales, property transitions and construction.

Rasheed said her aim was to combine operational rigour with an entrepreneurial approach while keeping the focus on employees, guests and each hotel’s identity. Her appointment includes responsibility for team building, financial performance and the continued growth of Lore Group’s U.S. portfolio.

Which qualifications and industry roles does she hold?

Rasheed holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management from the University of South Carolina and is a Certified Revenue Management Executive. She previously served as President of the Charleston Hospitality Association and as a member of the Board of Directors for the College of Charleston’s School of Hospitality and Tourism.

The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International named Rasheed Revenue Management Executive of the Year for North America. These qualifications position her to oversee the group’s U.S. hotels, although the announcement does not state that any of the three properties will change its operating model.

Will apartment-style stays change?

The announcement names hotels and does not describe any of the affected properties as aparthotels or serviced apartments. It also announces no apartment-style opening, refurbishment, extended-stay package, kitchen provision, rate structure or booking rule.

For guests, the immediate change is therefore about who manages the three named hotels, not what they can book or which conditions apply. Travellers currently considering Riggs Washington DC, Lyle Washington DC or Hotel Park Ave NYC have no announced rate or reservation-policy change to account for when making a booking.

Rasheed will be based in Washington, D.C. as she takes charge of Lore Group’s U.S. hotel operations.
