Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Yerevan

18 stays · 17 aparthotels and 1 serviced apartments

Yerevan is compact enough that most visitors base themselves in one central district, and aparthotels and serviced apartments in Yerevan suit that pattern well. A kitchen and a separate living area make a week or a month easier than a single hotel room, families gain extra space, and remote workers or people on longer assignments can settle into a routine close to cafes, museums and the metro. If the format is new to you, our guide explains what an aparthotel is.

Where to stay in Yerevan

Republic Square

  • first-time visitors
  • museums
  • short stays

Republic Square is one of the two hubs of Tamanyan's plan for the centre, according to Wikivoyage, and Wikivoyage lists the Houses of Government and the Foreign Ministry among the buildings around it. Wikivoyage also says virtually all of the museums, hotels and popular places to eat and drink are in Kentron, so this is the most straightforward base if you want to do everything on foot.

Erebuni

  • history
  • rail travel
  • budget-minded stays

Erebuni is a southern district named after the Erebuni fortress, which the city of Yerevan itself traces its name back to, according to yerevan.am. Wikivoyage also places the Soviet-era main railway station here. It is an option for travellers arriving by rail or those who prefer to be outside the core, with the centre reached by metro or bus.

Getting around Yerevan

Zvartnots International Airport is the main gateway, which Wikivoyage places 14 km west of the city centre. It lists a shuttle bus service between the airport and the centre, with the stop in front of the terminal entrance. Wikivoyage also advises having a map or navigation ready and telling taxi drivers the correct route.

Inside the city, Wikivoyage describes the centre as easy to cover on foot. Public transport includes buses, trolleybuses, minibuses and the Yerevan Metro, a single line of 12.1 km according to Wikipedia that serves the city and has run since 1981. Wikipedia describes a unified electronic ticketing system for buses, minibuses, trolleybuses and the metro, and says riders can pay with contactless bank cards, reusable transport cards or mobile tickets, with time-based and period passes also available. Check the Yerevan transport website for current details before you travel.

Living in Yerevan for longer

Wikivoyage describes Kentron as the district where nearly all hotels, museums and places to eat are found, so a serviced apartment there keeps daily errands short. For wider choice, the Cascade area has coffee shops and pedestrian streets, while Wikivoyage mentions the Barekamutyun metro area as a hub with an indoor bazaar-style department store, and a large outdoor bazaar in the Bangladesh district.

Yerevan's metro line is described as the quickest way across town, while Wikivoyage says most residents find buses more convenient. If you work remotely, the cafe-lined streets around the Cascade and Northern Avenue are the obvious places to try first. For longer-term relocation, our guide to serviced apartments for relocation explains how the format compares with a conventional rental.

When to visit Yerevan

Wikipedia classes Yerevan's climate as cold semi-arid, with long, hot, dry summers and short, cold and snowy winters; August temperatures can reach 40 °C, and January can bring freezing conditions. Wikivoyage calls autumn the most popular season for its comfortable weather and farm-fresh food, spring mild and sometimes wet with green hills and wildflowers, and summer very hot with long, late nights in cafes. It says winter is the least appealing time because of icy pavements.

Wikipedia notes that the Yerevan Wine Days festival is held in May, the Yerevan Beer Fest in August and the Yerevan Jazz Fest every autumn. Vardavar, a water-dousing festival, falls 98 days after Easter, so its date moves from year to year, and the Swan Lake by the Opera is its most popular venue.

Wikivoyage notes that most of tourist Yerevan sits in the city centre, which it describes as compact and easily walkable, while the rest of the city is mostly residential or business quarters. The city plan drawn up by Alexander Tamanyan in the 1920s gave the centre its circular layout of avenues, squares and parks. Yerevan is the capital of Armenia, and the sections below cover the districts that suit different kinds of stay.
