Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Budapest

63 stays · 36 aparthotels and 27 serviced apartments · from €84/night

Budapest's grand apartment blocks were made for city living, and aparthotels and serviced apartments in Budapest let you settle into them rather than a hotel corridor. A kitchen is handy for meals from the Great Market Hall, families gain separate sleeping space, and longer stays for work or study are easier with a washing machine and a proper living area.

Belváros-Lipótváros (District V)

  • first-time visitors
  • sightseeing
  • couples

The heart of Pest holds Parliament, St Stephen's Basilica and the Danube promenade, with the Chain Bridge, the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Budapest, leading over to Buda. Deák Ferenc tér, where three metro lines meet and the airport bus terminates, is on its edge. The Great Market Hall stands at the southern end of Váci utca.

Buda Castle District

  • quiet stays
  • views
  • history

On the hill above the Danube, the UNESCO-listed Castle District has the Royal Palace, Matthias Church and the Fishermen's Bastion. Evenings are calm once day visitors leave, though shops are limited and steep streets mean using buses or the funicular from the Chain Bridge. It suits a short, scenic stay more than a long one.

Getting around Budapest

From Liszt Ferenc International Airport, BKK's 100E Airport Express bus runs to Kálvin tér and Deák Ferenc tér in about 40 minutes, around the clock and every 6–10 minutes during the day, and needs its own dedicated ticket. The 24-hour 200E bus connects the airport with Kőbánya-Kispest metro station on standard tickets. Taxis and shuttle services are also available.

BKK runs four metro lines (M1–M4), trams, buses and trolleybuses. Trams 4 and 6 run along the Grand Boulevard, and the BudapestGO app plans journeys and sells tickets.

The historic centre of Pest is flat and walkable; Buda is hillier, so allow for buses or trams on that side of the river.

Living in Budapest for longer

The Great Market Hall is the best-known place for fresh produce, paprika and meat, and neighbourhood markets and supermarkets cover everyday shopping. For a longer stay, the BudapestGO app is the easiest way to plan journeys and buy tickets without queuing at machines.

With over 100 geothermal springs, the city's baths, including Széchenyi and Rudas, are part of local routine rather than just a tourist sight. Relocating for work? Read our guide to serviced apartments for relocation.

When to visit Budapest

Budapest has warm to hot summers, with July averaging highs around 28°C, and chilly winters with January temperatures near freezing and occasional snow. Annual rainfall is moderate. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for walking the city.

The Sziget Festival takes over Óbuda Island for several days every August (11–15 August in 2026), and St Stephen's Day on 20 August is the national holiday. Book early if your dates overlap either.

The Danube divides hilly Buda on the west bank from flat Pest on the east, where most visitors stay. Four metro lines, historic trams and a dedicated airport express bus make getting around simple. For a primer on how apartment-style stays work, see what is an aparthotel.
