Under the global rebrand, BWH Hotels’ portfolio of more than 4,000 hotels in 100 countries now sits beneath the WorldHotels masterbrand, Boutique Hotel News reported. Following the change, the group’s British arm operates as WorldHotels GB, encompassing more than 200 independent hotels and a total of 12,000 rooms throughout Great Britain. The rebrand changes the parent-company identity rather than replacing each property’s brand.

More than 4,000 hotels move under one masterbrand

The restructuring brings BWH Hotels’ 18 brands together under the WorldHotels name (Hotel Owner). Its purpose is to connect brands, loyalty and digital capabilities while allowing individual hotels to retain their positioning. The group’s international distribution is intended to give independent owners wider reach without requiring them to surrender that individual identity.

In WorldHotels GB’s account, the global strategy is designed to widen independent owners’ overseas audience and give them joint access to distribution channels, all without requiring each hotel to give up its own positioning.

The forthcoming loyalty programme has two published membership figures. Neither source explains the difference, so the published reports do not provide a reconciled total.

More than 200 GB hotels keep their identities

WorldHotels GB says the change applies at parent-company level. Each property is to retain its current brand, identity, signage and flag, with brands such as Best Western and BW Premier Collection included in that list. At the core of the rebrand is an effort to strengthen independent owners’ access to international markets and pooled distribution resources while maintaining each property’s separate positioning.

That positioning has particular significance within a network that includes Best Western and BW Premier Collection. Our European hotel partnership coverage provides context on the multi-brand partnership landscape surrounding the rebrand.

Tim Rumney, CEO of WorldHotels GB, said Best Western would remain central to the business, while the refreshed brand approach created more scope for growth in premium and extended-stay segments, areas he identified as significant opportunities. Rumney said each hotel would preserve the brand and identity it already uses. He additionally indicated that the change would extend WorldHotels GB’s reach to worldwide audiences and address what current travellers expect.

Rewards launch on 5 January 2027

A global rollout of WorldHotels Rewards is set for 5 January 2027, with the launch bringing Best Western Rewards together with the programme already operating under the WorldHotels Rewards name. Membership will be organised in three tiers under the unified programme, while existing points and benefits—including status matching, member rates and points that do not expire—will carry over.

Boutique Hotel News reports that the unified programme will bring together 53 million members. The two reports do not reconcile the figures.

Bookings made by Rewards members account for 27 per cent of WorldHotels GB’s hotel revenue in Britain at present.

Nearly 50 hotels sit in the GB pipeline

During 2026, WorldHotels GB welcomed 12 hotels amounting to almost 600 rooms, while six additional properties are expected to join by year-end. It currently has nearly 50 hotels in its 12-month development pipeline. By 2029, WorldHotels GB intends to grow its total portfolio by 50 per cent, with planned expansion covering premium and extended-stay hotels.

Within the GB portfolio, premium and upscale properties make up approximately 15 per cent of the current total. At the global group level, Larry Cuculic, president and CEO of WorldHotels, said the plan would link the group’s brands, loyalty system and digital tools while leaving each property independent.

Against that expansion, WorldHotels GB enters the rebrand with 12,000 rooms in its British portfolio.
