Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Cape Town

60 stays · 53 aparthotels and 7 serviced apartments · from €62/night

Cape Town is a city people rarely see in a weekend, which is why aparthotels and serviced apartments are such a good fit. Visitors tend to stay a week or more to fit in Table Mountain, the winelands and the Cape Peninsula, and a kitchen, laundry and a proper living space make that pace easier, especially for families and for remote workers escaping the northern winter.

The City Bowl is the central business district and the older neighbourhoods around it, including the historic Bo-Kaap (Malay Quarter), framed by Table Mountain. The Civic Centre MyCiTi station here is the terminus of the airport bus. It is the most practical base for sightseeing without a car.

The V&A Waterfront sits on the harbour just north of the City Bowl, between the CBD and Green Point. It is a compact, easy area for families and first visits, and a short ride from both the city centre and the Atlantic beaches.

Getting around Cape Town

Cape Town International Airport is about 20 km east of the city centre. The MyCiTi A01 airport bus runs to the Civic Centre in the CBD, with departures every half hour, every day, from early morning until the evening; fares are paid with a myconnect card, as MyCiTi is cashless. Ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Bolt are widely used for door-to-door trips.

MyCiTi is the city's bus rapid transit system, with dedicated red bus lanes and routes from the CBD along the Atlantic coastal suburbs, running from early morning until about 10 pm. Metrorail commuter trains serve the Southern Suburbs and False Bay coast. Ask locally about which areas are best avoided after dark, and on trains at night travel in a busy carriage, ideally with a companion.

Living in Cape Town for longer

For a longer stay, pick a base that matches your routine: the City Bowl and Sea Point keep cafés, shops and MyCiTi within walking distance, while the Southern Suburbs and Muizenberg suit those happy to drive or take the train. Buy a myconnect card early; it is sold at stations and retailers and can be topped up for regular bus use.

When to visit Cape Town

Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate. Summers, from December to March, are warm and dry with long evenings, and a strong south-easterly wind known as the Cape Doctor often blows. Winters, from June to September, are cooler and wetter, with highs averaging around 18 °C and cold nights.

Big events fill the city: the Cape Town Cycle Tour, the world's largest individually timed cycle race, is held on the second Sunday of March, and the Two Oceans Marathon takes place around the start of April, with the 2027 edition running from 31 March to 4 April.

It is South Africa's oldest city and its legislative capital, spread around the City Bowl beneath Table Mountain, Devil's Peak and Lion's Head, with the Atlantic suburbs to the west and False Bay to the south-east. Distances are bigger than they look, so choosing the right base matters. See our South Africa hub for other cities.
