Aparthotels and serviced apartments in Daytona Beach are spread along a barrier-island coast and across the Halifax River on the mainland. Wikivoyage describes the city as sitting on the Atlantic shore and split in two by the river, with a wide stretch of white sandy beach as the biggest attraction, and notes that the area is dominated by motorsports and Daytona International Speedway.

The Daytona Beach Boardwalk area is one of the districts listed by the area's official tourism site. Wikivoyage names the Main Street Pier, the Oceanfront Boardwalk and the Clocktower in Oceanfront Park as historic sites here. It says the main tourism strip is Atlantic Avenue, which runs parallel to the beach, and that hotels on Atlantic Avenue are close to the beach.

Daytona Beach's tourism board lists Historic Beach Street as one of the city's districts. Wikivoyage places a riverfront park on North Beach Street and says boat cruises along the Halifax River leave from Beach Street. Wikivoyage also notes that Main Street and Beach Street can be busy or closed during the large motorcycle events.
Wikivoyage's history section says the towns of Daytona, Daytona Beach and Seabreeze merged in 1926 to form the present city, and the tourism board lists a Seabreeze Historic District among the city's neighbourhoods.

Wikivoyage divides Daytona Beach lodging into Speedway, Beachside and US-1 areas, and says properties on International Speedway Boulevard are close to the racetrack. Wikivoyage describes Daytona Beach Shores as a quieter small city just south of Daytona Beach along the beach peninsula. It is part of the Greater Daytona Beach Area, which also includes Ponce Inlet, Port Orange, South Daytona, Holly Hill and Ormond Beach.
Wikivoyage describes Ponce Inlet as a scenic fishing village at the southern tip of the beach peninsula, with the historic Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, a marine science centre and local charter fishing boats. Fishing charters in the area usually originate from Ponce Inlet or New Smyrna Beach.
Daytona Beach International Airport sits next to the Speedway along International Speedway Boulevard, west of downtown, according to Wikivoyage. Votran, the Volusia County bus service, connects to the airport. Orlando International Airport is the nearest alternative for a wider range of airlines, according to Wikivoyage.
Wikivoyage describes the main tourism area as Atlantic Avenue, a strip of road running parallel to the beach. During major NASCAR races International Speedway Boulevard is congested near the track, and during large motorcycle events Main Street, Beach Street and most of Atlantic Avenue can see heavy traffic or closures. Votran has transfer stations at the Transfer Plaza on Bethune Boulevard and at the Intermodal Transit Facility on Earl Street.
The Greater Daytona Beach Area includes Daytona Beach Shores, Holly Hill, Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, South Daytona and Ormond Beach, and Wikivoyage notes that some of the surrounding cities use Daytona Beach as a mailing address. Wikivoyage describes Port Orange as a quiet city just south of Daytona Beach on the mainland.
Wikivoyage says lodging is generally divided into the Speedway, Beachside and US-1 areas, with US-1 running along Ridgewood Avenue. Cars are still permitted on the beach at slow speeds, according to Wikivoyage, which calls it one of the few places in the world where a family car can be driven on an ocean beach.
Wikivoyage describes a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid, thunderstorms are frequent on summer afternoons, and the hot humid weather can last through the autumn. Winters are dry and mild, and freezes are rare.
Racing shapes the calendar. Wikivoyage says the group of races at Daytona International Speedway in the first two weeks of February is known as Daytona Speedweeks, and that the Daytona 500 is usually the final race of Speedweeks. Its event listing also places Bike Week in March.
