Wikivoyage calls Downtown the main commerce area of the city, because it is at the bottom of the mountain, with the German Colony, Wadi Nisnas and several prominent museums. Wikivoyage says the German Protestant Temple Society settled the neighbourhood now known as the German Colony in 1868. It also places the cruise terminal and the Carmelit subway near downtown.

Wikivoyage says the Bahá'í sites in Haifa were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Wikipedia gives 1953 as the completion year of the Shrine of the Báb and describes its golden dome, and Wikivoyage describes the gardens and world centre on Mount Carmel's northern slope.
Wikivoyage places Hadar half-way up the mountain, with a diverse population. It says Hadar was the centre of Jewish Haifa before 1948 and is still a major focus of commerce and transportation.

Wikivoyage describes the Carmel districts as residential neighbourhoods with views of the Mediterranean Sea and Haifa Bay, containing the Merkaz HaCarmel shopping and entertainment district. The Carmelit subway runs between Carmel Centre and downtown, according to Wikivoyage.
Wikivoyage describes West Haifa as the western coast, characterised by long beaches, with Elijah's Cave, Stella Maris and Tel Shikmona among the historical attractions, and the National Maritime Museum and the Naval Museum. It also lists a two-stop cable car between the Bat Galim promenade and Stella Maris.

Wikivoyage places the Technion, one of the most important and oldest universities in Israel, in Neve Sha'anan on the eastern part of Mount Carmel. It also says Haifa has a technology park, Matam, along the beach in the south, and that the University of Haifa is in Ramot HaCarmel.
Wikivoyage says Haifa is connected to Tel Aviv, Akko, Beer Sheva, Nahariyya and Ben Gurion International Airport by Israel Railways, the trip from Tel Aviv taking a little over an hour, and recommends the train from the airport terminal. It lists six train stations in Haifa, and says the two main bus terminals each sit next to a train station.
Locally, Wikivoyage lists the Metronit bus rapid transit system, the Carmelit subway between Carmel Centre and downtown, and a cable car between Bat Galim and Stella Maris. Wikipedia describes the Carmelit as an underground funicular railway with six stations.
