How Ownership Membership works

Ownership Membership is a prepaid right to stay — not equity, not real estate, no share of the property's value or income, and not an investment. One standard contract, 14-day cooling-off. Read the risks.

Shares and weeks

Each committed apartment-year at a partner property is divided into 12 shares. One share gives you 4 weeks (28 nights) every membership year in that apartment type or an equivalent unit, with no end date. Your membership year starts on the day your payment clears and renews on each anniversary.

The price

Each property page shows exactly how its price is built: the property's average public nightly rate over the next 12 months and, where we have a sourced figure, the price per m² of apartments in that city. You pay the full price once, by card, bank debit or bank transfer through Stripe. From the first anniversary there is an annual service fee — typically 3% of the price — most of which goes to the operator for running your weeks.

Booking your weeks

Open the member calendar in your account and pick any open week inside the property's booking window. Weeks start on a fixed weekday. Some properties exclude a few peak weeks or charge a surcharge for them; that is stated on the property page and in your contract. The operator confirms within 72 hours — and if they don't answer, the week is confirmed automatically. Member weeks are removed from the property's availability on every channel the moment you book.

Gifting, swapping and reselling

Put anyone's name on a reserved week. Offer a week you can't use to other members, or list your whole membership on the member marketplace at a price you choose. When it sells, the membership and your upcoming weeks move to the buyer and you receive the price minus a 2.5% fee. There may be no buyer, and we never suggest prices.

Your protections

  • 14-day cooling-off with a full refund if no week has been used.
  • One standard contract, signed online, with a PDF copy in your account.
  • Operators give 12 months' notice before withdrawing units; you then choose an equivalent property in the same city or a pro-rata credit.

Questions

What exactly do I buy?

A contractual right to stay 4 weeks (28 nights) every membership year at one partner property, per share, with no end date. Each unit is shared by up to 12 members. A prepaid right to stay — not equity, not real estate, no share of the property's value or income, and not an investment.

Is this a timeshare or real estate?

It is a prepaid stay membership. You don't own any part of the building, you don't receive rent or income, and the property doesn't appear on any title deed. You buy guaranteed time at a place you like, run by a professional operator.

How do I pay?

In full, in one payment, by card or by bank debit or transfer through Stripe. There are no loans and no instalment plans. Your weeks become bookable as soon as the payment clears.

What does it cost each year?

From the first anniversary, an annual service fee (typically 3% of your membership price; the exact figure is on each property page and in your contract). Most of it goes to the operator for running your weeks. While the fee is unpaid, new weeks can't be booked.

How do I book my weeks?

In the member calendar. Pick any open week between the minimum notice and the booking window shown for the property. The operator confirms within 72 hours (it is confirmed automatically if they don't answer). Peak weeks may carry a surcharge or be excluded — it's stated up front.

Can I give a week to someone else?

Yes. Change the guest name on any reserved week and we notify the property. The week still counts towards your own allowance.

Can I sell my membership later?

You can list it on the member marketplace at a price you choose; when someone buys it, the membership and any upcoming weeks transfer to them and you receive the price minus a 2.5% fee. There is no guarantee that anyone will buy, or at what price, and we give no price guidance.

What if I change my mind?

You can cancel within 14 days of signing for a full refund, as long as no week has been used.

What if the property leaves the programme?

Confirmed weeks are honoured, and the operator must give 12 months' notice before withdrawing units. You then choose an equivalent property in the same city or a pro-rata credit for stays booked through aparthotel.com.

Unused weeks?

Weeks don't roll over to the next membership year. If you can't use a week, gift it or offer it to other members on the marketplace.
