Arthurs Point is another area listed by Wikivoyage, north of the town centre. It suits visitors who prefer a quieter base and have a car, or who plan to use the bus into town.
Arrowtown is a nearby town that Wikivoyage lists separately from the main Queenstown districts. It is a choice for those who want to stay outside the main resort and travel into Queenstown for activities, so plan transport before you book.
Queenstown Airport is in Frankton, and the airport's website says downtown is about 20 minutes away. It lists the public bus service Orbus, taxis and rideshare, shuttles, and rental cars and campervans. Wikivoyage describes Orbus service 1 as a public bus way into town and also mentions shared shuttle vans.
Orbus is the local bus operator, with five main routes according to Wikivoyage, and Wikipedia says it also operates a Kelvin Heights ferry connection. The town centre is compact enough to walk. For the ski fields, Wikivoyage places Coronet Peak about 20 minutes from town, Cardrona about an hour's drive and Treble Cone about an hour and a half, so check for ski-field transport options for your dates.
For longer stays, Frankton has the main supermarkets and chain stores, which is useful for keeping a kitchen stocked. The town centre has restaurants and the lake close by.
