26 stays · 11 aparthotels and 15 serviced apartments
Zlatibor is one of Serbia's most popular mountain resorts, busy in winter for skiing and in summer for hiking, clean air and day trips to traditional villages. Aparthotels and serviced apartments suit the way people holiday here: families and groups come for a week or longer, want space to dry ski gear or cook after a day outdoors, and often split their time between the town and the surrounding countryside.

The centre grew up around King's Square (Kraljev Trg) and the small artificial Zlatibor Lake, created in 1947, which now has a floating multimedia fountain with light and water shows. Hotels, villas, restaurants and cafés are concentrated here, and the base station of the Gold Gondola is in the centre, so you can reach Tornik without a car.
Stays in or near Zlatibor town centre and King's Square
Tornik, at 1,496 m the highest peak of the Zlatibor mountains, is home to the area's largest ski centre, about 9 km from the town. Its five runs have snowmaking throughout, served by a six-seat chairlift and drag lifts, with a conveyor belt for beginners. In summer the chairlift runs panoramic rides and the tubing track stays open.
Ribnica Lake is a reservoir created in 1971 by damming the Crni Rzav river, between the town and Tornik. The Gold Gondola passes over it on its way to the ski centre, and it lies within the Zlatibor Nature Park, making it a peaceful base for walkers and cyclists who have their own transport.
Čajetina is the administrative centre of the municipality that covers most of Zlatibor, a few kilometres north of the resort. It is quieter and more everyday than the tourist town, which suits longer stays.
Užice, on the Đetinja river about 25 km north of Zlatibor, is the largest city in the region and the administrative centre of the Zlatibor District. It is the more practical railway stop for the mountain, with frequent buses up to the resort, and suits travellers who want city services alongside mountain day trips.
Most international visitors fly into Belgrade and continue by direct coach, as bus lines connect Zlatibor with towns across Serbia and with Montenegro. Trains on the Belgrade–Bar line stop at 'Zlatibor' station, which is actually in the village of Semegnjevo, about 10 km from the resort, so it is usually easier to leave the train at Užice and take one of the frequent local buses up the mountain, a ride of around 45 minutes.
The town itself is compact and walkable. The Gold Gondola, which opened in 2021 and is described as the world's longest panoramic gondola, runs almost 9 km from the town centre over Ribnica Lake to Tornik. To explore villages such as Sirogojno, Gostilje and Mokra Gora, use a car, a taxi or one of the day tours run by local agencies.
For longer stays, the resort town has the most shops, restaurants and services, while Čajetina and Užice cover everyday errands. The area is known for its herbs, and you can buy local herbal teas and mixes; the village of Mačkat is famous for cured meats such as Zlatibor pršut.
Some English is spoken in Zlatibor town, but less so in rural villages, so a few words of Serbian help. Maintained hiking trails range from easy walks to demanding routes, and there are many cycling paths, which makes a longer stay easy to fill. Paragliding is popular on the Čigota–Čukar ridge and Tornik's southern slope.
Zlatibor has a cool mountain climate with long sunny spells in summer and heavy snow in winter. July and August highs are around 24°C, comfortable for hiking, while January averages below freezing. Snowmaking on all of Tornik's runs gives a winter season of about 100 days.
Winter is the main season for skiers and families, and summer brings walkers and visitors seeking the clean mountain air. Spring and autumn are quieter, good for cycling and village day trips, including the Stopića Cave with its tufa pools and the 20-metre Gostilje waterfall.
The resort town sits at just over 1,000 metres, built around a small lake and King's Square. Tourism here dates back to 1893, when King Aleksandar Obrenović founded a health resort, and the mountain is now officially recognised as a clean-air spa.
