Where to go, month by month
Where are the best places to travel in November?
Facts checked against the cited sources on
November is the month when the northern hemisphere's weather turns, and when many warm regions reach their best conditions of the year. Heat eases across the Gulf and the Nile valley, the monsoon rain has ended in Goa and is dwindling in Hong Kong, and the southern hemisphere is in late spring. This page gives eight places that fit November, each with the reason it suits the month and the trade-off.
This is our own selection, not a ranking. We chose places where November has a specific, checkable draw: an event date from an official or organiser page, or a monthly figure from the WMO World Weather Information Service. The figures are long-term averages for one station each over the period named in the table, so a single week can differ widely. For the months either side, see best places to travel in October and best places to travel in December.
How November works around the world
Three patterns explain most of the picks below. First, hot desert and Gulf regions cool from the extremes of summer: Abu Dhabi's average high falls from 40.1 degrees Celsius in September to 30.6 in November on the WMO figures. Second, monsoon and tropical regions move into a drier season: Goa records 251.9 mm in September and 30.9 mm in November. Third, the southern hemisphere moves from spring into summer, which is why Perth and Auckland are on the list.
Because November sits between seasons, conditions change quickly from the start of the month to the end, and a single monthly average hides that. Check the national weather service for your destination as your dates approach.
Abu Dhabi: heat easing, with almost no rain
Abu Dhabi suits November because the extreme heat has passed. The National Center of Meteorology figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 30.6 degrees Celsius and a low of 17.5, with 1.8 mm of rain over 0.2 days (1982 to 1991 normals). July averages a high of 42.0 at the same station.
The trade-off is that the normals cover only a short period, ending in 1991, so they may not show recent conditions. Evenings are noticeably cooler than days. See Abu Dhabi stays, and check official guidance on local rules before you travel.
Luxor: dry days and cool nights on the Nile
Luxor is a November pick for temple visits that would be punishing in summer. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 29.0 degrees Celsius and a low of 12.3, with 0.5 mm of rain over 0.1 days (1981 to 2010 normals). In June the average high is 41.3.
The trade-off is the day-night gap of about 17 degrees, so bring warm layers for early starts and evenings. The figures are for one station. See the Egypt country hub for the stays we list, and read your government's current travel advice before you go.
Las Palmas: mild winter sun in the Canary Islands
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a November pick for mild sea-level weather. The Spanish weather agency figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 24.2 degrees Celsius and a low of 18.1, with 21.7 mm of rain over 6.4 days (1981 to 2010 normals). The August high is 27.5 degrees, so November is a few degrees cooler.
The trade-off is that rain days begin to rise: October records 4.2 days and November 6.4, with December higher at 7.1. Rain totals are still small. For a longer winter stay, a kitchen lets you cook some of your meals. See the Spain hub for the stays we list on the Canaries.
Goa: after the monsoon, with a film festival
Goa is a November pick because the monsoon is over. The India Meteorological Department figures on the WMO site list 30.9 mm of rain over 2.5 days in November, against 994.8 mm in July. The average November high is 32.8 degrees Celsius and the low is 22.3. The WMO page does not state the normals period.
There is also a dated event. The All India Radio news service, read in October 2026, reports that the 57th International Film Festival of India is scheduled in Goa from 20 to 28 November 2026. Programme details change, so check the festival's own channels. The trade-off is that November is still warm and humid. See the India country hub for stays.
Hong Kong: the dry season arrives
Hong Kong is a November pick for walking and harbour views in comfortable temperatures. The Hong Kong Observatory figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 24.5 degrees Celsius and a low of 20.3, with 39.3 mm of rain over 5.7 days (1991 to 2020 normals). September records 321.4 mm.
The Observatory's climate page says tropical cyclones may strike between May and November and that July to September is the most likely period, so November is at the tail end of the season. It describes November and December as having pleasant breezes, plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. See Hong Kong for stays.
Las Vegas: mild days and a Formula 1 weekend
Las Vegas suits November because the summer heat is gone. The National Weather Service figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 19.1 degrees Celsius and a low of 8.1, with 9.1 mm of rain over 1.7 days (1981 to 2010 normals). The July average high is 40.1.
The city also hosts a Formula 1 race. The formula1.com race page, read in October 2026, gives session times in UTC from 20 to 22 November 2026. The sessions are evening events, so in Las Vegas local time (Pacific) they fall on 19 to 21 November, with the race on the evening of 21 November. Confirm on the organiser's schedule. Expect busy weekends and cool nights. See Las Vegas stays.
Perth: southern spring before the summer heat
Perth follows the southern hemisphere's calendar, so November is late spring. The Bureau of Meteorology figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 26.4 degrees Celsius and a low of 14.1, with 19.7 mm of rain over 5.9 days (1994 to 2010 normals, Perth Airport). July records 153.1 mm.
The trade-off is that the heat builds: the January average high is 30.8. November is the last mild month before summer, and the short normals period may not show recent warmth. See Perth stays.
Auckland: spring warmth with steady showers
Auckland is the cool-climate southern pick. The New Zealand National Meteorological Service figures on the WMO site list an average November high of 19.5 degrees Celsius and a low of 12.8, with 71.7 mm of precipitation (1981 to 2010 normals). The page lists no rain-day count.
Showers are common year-round. November's total is lower than September (90.5 mm), October (93.9 mm) and December (86.6 mm), and the average July high is 14.3. Pack layers. See Auckland for stays.
November climate at a glance
The table collects the November figures quoted above. All come from the WMO World Weather Information Service pages for each station, and the normals period differs by station, so compare patterns rather than exact numbers. Auckland is listed as precipitation and gives no rain-day count; Goa gives no normals period; Las Palmas rain is as listed.

How we chose, and the limits of this list
We looked for places where November has a verifiable reason to go: a dated event on an official or organiser page, or a climate figure from a national weather service reported through the WMO. We balanced the list across desert, tropical, island and southern-hemisphere destinations. We did not use traveller votes and we did not rank the places. The list leaves out many good destinations, such as places with a rainy November, and says nothing about prices or availability.
Normals are averages over long periods, several of them decades old, and each is for a single station. Event dates come from pages read in October 2026 and can change, so confirm them before you book. Our when to book guide explains timing, and the table of our own aparthotel figures for these countries is below.
