Aparthotels and serviced apartments are the usual way to stay in Mogán, the south-western municipality of Gran Canaria, where visits tend to be a week or two of beach days and a kitchen and living space help families and groups. Wikipedia places Mogán in the south-west of the island and says it has about 21,000 residents and covers 172.44 km2, making it the second-largest municipality on Gran Canaria by area. Much of the population lives on the Atlantic coastline, and the town of Mogán itself is about 8 km inland.

Wikipedia calls Puerto de Mogán a picturesque fishing village and popular marina at the mouth of a steep-sided valley, nicknamed the Venice of the Canaries for the canals linking the marina to the fishing harbour. It says there are very few buildings over two storeys, and that a popular market is held on Fridays. Wikivoyage describes it as a coastal area with a yacht harbour.

The village of Mogán is the inland locality of the municipality, set about 8 km from the coast according to Wikipedia. It is a very different base from the beach resorts, and suits guests who have a car. The coastal resorts are the choice for beach days.
The official Gran Canaria tourism site lists Amadores among its beaches. Wikipedia places Amadores Beach just north-west of Puerto Rico and describes it as a popular tourist destination on the southern coast.

Wikipedia says Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) is the only commercial airport on the island and that the GC-1 motorway runs through the southern part of Mogán. Wikipedia's article on the motorway says it runs about 75 km from Las Palmas to Puerto de Mogán, and that the final extension to Puerto de Mogán opened in March 2013. Check the Global bus timetable for current airport and resort services, as Wikipedia says Global operates inter-urban services across the island.
Within the municipality the resorts are strung along the coast, so a bus or car is useful for moving between them. Wikipedia describes Puerto de Mogán and Arguineguín as fishing towns, and Wikivoyage notes that buses on the island have luggage compartments opened remotely by the driver.
For a longer stay, Arguineguín offers a working town with a weekly market, Puerto Rico offers the most resort facilities, and Puerto de Mogán offers a marina setting. Pick the base according to how much you will use a car: Wikipedia says much of the population lives on the coast, so the localities are spread along the shoreline.
Look for a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine in an apartment, and note where you would shop for groceries. Arguineguín's Tuesday market and Puerto de Mogán's Friday market are the weekly markets Wikipedia describes.
Wikipedia says the south of Gran Canaria is warmer and sunnier than the north, with average daytime temperatures of around 20°C in winter and 26°C in summer. For Puerto Rico, Wikipedia says winter temperatures hover around 20 to 25°C with less than three days of rain a month.
That makes the south-west a year-round choice for beach stays. Wikivoyage says Arguineguín has the best climate and least wind, which is useful if wind matters for you.
Wikipedia lists six principal localities: Arguineguín, Mogán village, Puerto de Mogán, Puerto Rico, Playa de Mogán and Cornisa del Suroeste, and says the municipality has a string of tourist resorts along the coast. It lies roughly 40 km south-west of Las Palmas, the provincial capital. For a neighbouring resort with its own page, see Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria, and for the wider country see Spain.
