Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Bangkok

104 stays · 94 aparthotels and 10 serviced apartments · from €55/night

Bangkok's traffic is notorious, and the city rewards visitors who settle near a Skytrain or metro line and stay a while. Aparthotels and serviced apartments in Bangkok are well suited to that: a separate living area and a kitchenette give you somewhere cool to retreat to in the midday heat, and laundry facilities matter in a climate where clothes need washing often. Families, business travellers and long-stay remote workers all benefit from the extra space.

Old Bangkok holds the Grand Palace and the major temples, and Khao San Road nearby is the city's long-standing backpacker street. There is no Skytrain here, so rely on river boats and taxis.

Getting around Bangkok

From Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Airport Rail Link runs every 10 to 13 minutes to Phaya Thai in under half an hour, connecting with the BTS Sukhumvit Line at Phaya Thai and the MRT Blue Line via Makkasan. From Don Mueang, the A1 bus runs to the Skytrain network.

The BTS Skytrain uses the rechargeable Rabbit card, while the MRT metro has its own card; contactless Visa and Mastercard cards are accepted at the gates of the MRT and the Airport Rail Link, but not yet on the BTS. The Chao Phraya Express boats, especially the orange-flag line, are the most useful way to reach the riverside sights. Rail and boat are almost always faster than a taxi at busy times.

Living in Bangkok for longer

Convenience stores are everywhere in Bangkok and cover most daily needs, and street markets sell fresh food and cooked meals. Choose a base within a short walk of a Skytrain or metro station, because walking any distance in the heat is tiring.

Get a Rabbit card early if you will ride the Skytrain daily. For longer work placements, see our guide to serviced apartments for relocation.

When to visit Bangkok

November to February is the coolest and driest period and the busiest for visitors. March and April are the hot season, with temperatures around 35°C, and the wet season runs from about May to October, when heavy rain can cause local flooding.

Songkran, the Thai New Year, falls on 13 to 15 April; streets such as Silom Road and Khao San Road close for water fights, and UNESCO added Songkran to its intangible cultural heritage list in December 2023.

Most visitors base themselves along the rail lines in the commercial centre, then head to the historic old city by boat or taxi. If you plan a longer trip around Thailand, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin are popular second stops.
