Karon is a beach resort on Phuket's west coast, and aparthotels and serviced apartments in Karon suit visitors who want a kitchen and extra space for a family holiday or a stay of several weeks. Wikipedia says the beach is quieter than neighbouring Patong and appeals to families and couples, which fits the apartment-style stays many of them prefer.

Wikivoyage's Karon and Kata entry also covers Kata Noi, which it calls Kata's quieter sister. It is the area to look at if you want to stay on this part of the coast with a calmer beach nearby.
Phuket International Airport is 32 km north of Phuket Town in Mai Khao, according to Wikipedia, and is run by Airports of Thailand. The Phuket Smart Bus site says its service connects the airport with Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai, with real-time GPS tracking and a day pass card, and lists timetables and live tracking on its website. Wikivoyage also lists metered taxis, voucher taxis and shared minibuses from the airport. Wikipedia says the province has no direct rail connection.
For local trips, Wikipedia describes songthaews between towns and beaches, motorcycle taxis (numerous in the main town and Patong area) and small vans that have largely replaced tuk-tuks, plus the Grab ride-hailing app. Wikivoyage adds that songthaews run between beaches and Phuket Town.
