Getting around Nantes

Nantes Atlantique Airport is 8 km southwest of the city, according to Wikivoyage. It lists a shuttle bus to the railway station and city centre that takes 20 to 30 minutes, and bus 38 to Pirmil, where you can change onto the tram network. Fares and timetables change, so check before travelling. At the railway station, Wikivoyage says the north exit (gare nord) is for the city centre and the south exit (gare sud) is for buses.

The local network is run under the Naolib brand. Wikivoyage describes three tram lines, two BusWays, more than 50 daytime bus lines, night buses and Navibus river ferries, and Naolib offers a Tram & Bus app with timetables, routes, disruptions and an interactive map. The centre is compact and walkable, and the Nantes Pass, sold from 24 hours to 7 days, includes 50 free activities according to Le Voyage à Nantes.

Living in Nantes for longer

For a longer stay, the Marché de Talensac is the obvious place for fresh produce, and an apartment with a kitchen makes the most of it. Choose a base near a tram stop if you plan to commute across the city, since Wikivoyage describes a network of trams, BusWays and buses. The Naolib app helps with day-to-day planning, and the AlloNaolib advisory team is available by phone on weekdays and Saturdays.
