Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Nice

20 stays · 17 aparthotels and 3 serviced apartments · from €81/night

Aparthotels and serviced apartments suit Nice because the city is as much a base for the Riviera as a destination in itself. A kitchen is handy when you want to shop at the Old Town market, and extra space helps families, groups and anyone staying several weeks. Nice is the fifth-largest city in France, with about 357,737 residents in 2023 according to Wikipedia, and it sits on the Bay of the Angels. Our guide explains what an aparthotel is if you are new to the format.

Where to stay in Nice

Vieux Nice

  • first-time visitors
  • food and markets
  • nightlife

Wikivoyage describes Vieux Nice as a maze of streets with boutiques, and lists the Cours Saleya as a daily flower and fruit market, open Tuesday to Sunday with shorter hours on Sundays. Staying here puts the market and the Old Town on your doorstep, and Wikipedia also points to Castle Hill for panoramic views of the city.

  • families
  • long walks

Wikivoyage describes the Promenade des Anglais as a waterfront stretching over 5 km, and Wikipedia says it runs along the Bay of the Angels. Wikivoyage lists bus 12 linking the airport to the Promenade, and the airport lies at the western end of the city, so this side of town is the shortest transfer from the terminals.

Port

  • ferries
  • harbour views
  • quieter stays

Wikivoyage lists the port area as the home of the ferry terminal and harbour district, and Wikipedia notes that the port is managed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It lies east of the Old Town, which makes it a useful base if you plan to travel by sea.

Cimiez

  • history
  • quiet stays
  • museums

Wikivoyage calls Cimiez the upper city, with Gallo-Roman ruins, museums and a monastery, and Wikipedia lists it as one of Nice's historic quarters. Its position on the hill north of the centre makes it a calmer alternative to the seafront, so check the bus and tram route before booking.

Jean-Médecin and the station

  • rail travel
  • shopping
  • business travel

Wikivoyage describes Jean Médecin as the main shopping street in the city centre, and tram line 2 connects the airport to the Jean Médecin stop. Tram line 1, according to Wikivoyage, forms a U-shaped route linking the main railway station, downtown and the university, which makes this a well-connected area.

Getting around Nice

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport lies at the western end of the city. Wikivoyage says tram line 2 serves the airport and connects with the centre at Jean Médecin, running every 8 minutes on weekdays, and lists bus 12 to the Promenade des Anglais. The airport operates Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 with shuttle buses between them, and serves 127 destinations according to its own website. Regional trains from Nice-Saint-Augustin run towards Monaco and the Italian border.

Lignes d'Azur runs the buses and trams, and its website offers a mobile app, contactless cards, magnetic tickets and Parcazur park-and-ride sites. Wikivoyage says trams run from around 04:30 until after midnight, while buses rarely run after 20:00 and five Noctambus routes cover the night. By rail, Wikivoyage lists Cannes at about 30 minutes and Paris by TGV in around five and a half hours. Much of the centre can be covered on foot.

Living in Nice for longer

For a longer stay, the Cours Saleya market is the obvious place for produce, flowers and baked goods, and it makes a kitchen worth having. Check which tram line serves your area, since line 1 and line 2 are the main spines described by Wikivoyage, and keep in mind that buses become infrequent after 20:00.
