10 stays · 4 aparthotels and 6 serviced apartments
Aparthotels and serviced apartments are well suited to Hannover, a city where business travel, trade fairs and longer project stays are as much a part of the picture as sightseeing. A kitchen and a separate workspace make a stay of several nights easier, and families visiting the zoo, the gardens or the lake will appreciate the extra room. For a quick comparison of formats, see aparthotel vs hotel.

Mitte is the borough around the Hauptbahnhof and the rebuilt Altstadt. Wikivoyage says even the Altstadt is largely 'new', with around 40 surviving old houses collected in one place, and Wikipedia names the New Town Hall with its observation dome. Being next to the station helps when you arrive by ICE or by the airport S-Bahn, and the Stadtbahn tunnels run beneath the city centre.

List belongs to the Vahrenwald-List borough and Wikivoyage mentions List among the neighbourhoods with Victorian architecture. Check the distance from your address to the nearest Stadtbahn stop, as that decides how quickly you reach the Hauptbahnhof.
Stays in or near List
Oststadt sits immediately east of Mitte. Wikivoyage names it with List as a neighbourhood of Victorian architecture. Wikivoyage also lists the Eilenriede forest among the city's green spaces. Check the walking distance from your address to the centre and the green spaces.

Linden is part of the Linden-Limmer borough that Wikipedia lists among Hannover's 13 boroughs. It lies west of the centre on the map and offers an everyday neighbourhood alternative to the station area. Check the nearest Stadtbahn stop for your address.

Wikipedia says the fairground, which it calls the largest exhibition ground in the world, is in the Mittelfeld district and has 24 halls. Stadtbahn line 8 (with peak-time line 18) serves Messe/Nord and line 6 (with extra line 16 during fairs) serves Messe/Ost, and the Hannover Messe/Laatzen railway station links to the halls by a people mover. Wikivoyage notes that Hanover calls itself the Exhibition City, so check the fair calendar against your dates.
Hannover Airport is about 11 km north of the centre. Wikipedia says the S5 S-Bahn line runs every 30 minutes for 22 hours a day and takes about 17 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof, and that the station lies beneath Terminal C. During the Hanover Fair, Wikipedia says additional hourly S8 services link the airport with the fairground. For rail arrivals, Wikivoyage says ICE trains take approximately 1 hour 20 minutes from Hamburg and 1 hour 30 minutes from Berlin.
Local public transport is run by Üstra, which operates the Stadtbahn and buses and offers a Deutschlandticket. Wikipedia says the Stadtbahn began operating in 1975, has 12 lines and consists of three full route networks with tunnels in the city centre. Üstra's website lists the sprinti on-demand service, night traffic, the sprintRad service and ticket types for trade fairs, conferences and hotel guests, plus a HannoverCard tourist ticket; check the current terms.
For a longer stay, choose a residential borough such as List, Oststadt or Linden. Check the nearest Stadtbahn stop for each address. Because Wikivoyage says Hanover hosts several of the biggest exhibitions in the world, serviced apartments can be a good way to secure a base for a project or for a repeat visit around a fair. Our guide to business travel and serviced apartments explains how this works.
Green space is part of daily life here: Wikivoyage describes the Maschsee lake and the 650-hectare Eilenriede city forest, and the tourist board adds Herrenhausen Gardens and the Erlebnis-Zoo. For a relocation, serviced apartments for relocation covers what to compare.

The tourist board features the Oktoberfest, the Maschsee Festival and the International Fireworks Competition at Herrenhausen Gardens. Wikivoyage says the competition runs over six Saturdays, typically three between May and June and three between August and September, and Wikipedia describes the Schützenfest as the world's largest marksmen's festival. Trade fairs fill hotels at the fairground; check the Deutsche Messe calendar before choosing dates.
Wikipedia describes Hanover (Hannover in German) as the capital of Lower Saxony, with about 540,000 residents and a metropolitan region of roughly 1.16 million.
