Guadalajara is the capital of Jalisco, with a metropolitan area of more than five million people according to Wikipedia, and many visitors stay for work or study rather than a long weekend. Aparthotels and serviced apartments in Guadalajara suit that kind of trip: a kitchen and laundry make a month easier, a separate living area helps if you are working remotely, and families get more space than a standard hotel room.
