Bacolod–Silay Airport is in the neighbouring city of Silay, about 15 km north-east of Bacolod, according to Wikipedia, and is 1 hour by air from Manila and 30 minutes from Cebu. The two main roads are Lacson Street to the north and Araneta Street to the south, and downtown streets are one-way. Traffic congestion is common at rush hour, especially in the early evening, and is typically worse during Christmas and New Year and during the MassKara Festival. Tricycles are common downtown, with fares depending on distance.

Living in Bacolod for longer

For a longer stay, the city has everything you need on a daily basis. Wikivoyage describes SM City Bacolod as the largest mall, with a grocery store, department store and cinema, Robinsons Place as the second largest, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central, which has a supermarket. Libertad Market is the place for fresh fruit and produce, particularly at its eastern corner, and Central Market is the option for local handmade products and sweet delicacies.

When to visit Bacolod

Bacolod has a tropical monsoon climate with two pronounced seasons.
