13 stays · 8 aparthotels and 5 serviced apartments
Świnoujście is a Baltic seaside town on the German border, and it works well for aparthotels and serviced apartments. Families come for the wide beach and stay for several days at a time, while visitors using the ferry port or the spa facilities often want a kitchen, laundry and more space than a standard room gives. Apartment-style stays also suit travellers who want to split time between the Polish seafront and the German resorts reached along the coast. If the format is new to you, our guide explains what an aparthotel is.

The seafront district around the Spa Park is the classic place to stay for a beach holiday. The city's tourism site describes the Leisure Park, designed by the Berlin architect Peter J. Lenné, with trees more than 100 years old, and a modern Promenade of Health with separate paths for pedestrians, cyclists and rollerskaters. Restaurants and seasonal events line the promenade, which is less crowded than the one at nearby Międzyzdroje, according to Polferries.

Staying in the centre puts you near the railway station, where PKP long-distance and regional trains arrive. Wikivoyage lists the former Town Hall at Plac Rybaka 1 and King's Christ Church among the sights. It is a practical base if you plan to travel on by rail, or to explore the islands.

North-east of the centre, at the harbour mouth, the Western Fort is a Prussian fortification built between 1843 and 1863 to protect the seaport, according to Polferries, and Wikipedia says concerts and art exhibitions are held there. Polferries adds that the grounds are large and the terrain makes it better to avoid a pram. The 19th-century breakwaters and the Stawa Młyny, a navigation beacon built in the form of a windmill, run out into the Baltic nearby.

East of the harbour mouth stands the lighthouse, which Wikipedia calls the highest in Poland at 68 metres and Polferries says takes more than 300 steps to climb, with a permanent exhibition on lighthouses and sea rescue nearby. Beyond it, on the island of Wolin, the beach continues for around 6 km according to the city's tourism site, which gives a total of about 10 km of beach between Uznam and Wolin. It is up to 200 m wide at its broadest and has held a Blue Flag since 2006. Polferries places the Underground City, a former coastal artillery complex handed to the Coastal Defense Museum in 2013, between the beach and Przytór station.
Wikivoyage lists Szczecin-Goleniów Airport, about 70 km south-east of the city, and also suggests flying to Berlin and transferring via Szczecin. By train, PKP operates long-distance and regional services, and Wikivoyage gives the journey from Szczecin as 1 hour 30 to 1 hour 45 minutes. UBB RegioBahn trains on the RB23 line run from Stralsund via Greifswald to Świnoujście Centrum station.
The Świna strait splits the city, and Wikipedia says regular ferries cross it. The Świnoujście Tunnel, opened in 2023, links the islands of Wolin and Usedom by road. The port has what Wikipedia calls Poland's largest and most modern ferry terminal, and Polferries lists its Świnoujście routes as Ystad (with a Copenhagen connection) and Trelleborg in Sweden. The promenade runs on into Germany: Wikipedia says the city borders the resort of Ahlbeck, connected by a street and 12 km of beach promenade, and the city tourism site calls it Europe's longest cross-border seafront promenade.
For a longer stay, the Spa Park and Leisure Park are good places for daily walks, and Uzdrowisko Świnoujście S.A. offers around 50 therapeutic treatments using peat and brine, according to the city tourism site. The Brine Towers, built in 2020, provide natural inhalation therapy. The promenade also has open-air gyms and sensory gardens.
The city has around 38,700 residents according to Wikipedia, so everyday services are in the town centre rather than spread along the coast. The cross-border promenade and the RB23 rail line both link the town with Germany. The city tourism site says the modernised yacht port can hold 350 average-sized vessels, which may interest sailing visitors. For moves of several weeks or months, see our guide to serviced apartments for relocation.
Wikipedia describes an oceanic climate with mild winters and relatively cool summers, shaped by the Baltic Sea. The city's tourism site says summer is the main season for events at the Amphitheatre, including the FAMA student festival, which has been held since 1966.
The beach, which Wikivoyage calls the widest of the whole Polish Baltic coast, is most useful in the warmer months.
The city sits in north-western Poland across three islands, Usedom, Wolin and Karsibór, and covers about 202.7 sq km. Regular ferries cross the Świna strait, and a road tunnel opened in 2023 to link Wolin and Usedom. It has a long spa tradition, with a spa park, brine towers and a long seafront promenade. The sections below explain which part of town to choose, how to arrive and what the seasons are like. You can also browse other stays across Poland.
