Aparthotels and serviced apartments work well in Wroclaw because the city mixes short city breaks with longer stays for study, work and events. Wikipedia reports a population of 672,545 in June 2025, making it the third-largest city in Poland, and more than 130,000 students, so the city is used to visitors who stay for weeks rather than nights. A kitchen and a separate living area are useful for families, small groups and anyone working remotely. Our guide explains what an aparthotel is and how it differs from a hotel.

The Rynek is the centre of the visitor map: the official visitor portal lists the Aula Leopoldina, the University of Wrocław's baroque hall, and the Panorama of Racławice among the major attractions. Wikivoyage also mentions Plac Solny, currently a flower market, and the small Wrocław dwarf statues, first installed in 2001, which are scattered around the city.

Ostrów Tumski, or Cathedral Island, is described by Wikivoyage as a group of islands on the Oder with cathedrals and old streets lit by hand-lit oil lamps in the evening. The visitor portal lists the Late Romanesque Church of St. Idzi from the early 13th century and St. Martin's Church, and Wikivoyage adds the 13th-century Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The island lies north-east of the Market Square, so it suits visitors who want a base on the quieter side of the centre.

Wrocław Główny is the main railway station. Wikivoyage lists about ten daily arrivals from Warsaw and several trains a day from Kraków and Poznań, and says the PKS Centrum coach station operates behind it, with FlixBus dominating routes. Staying near the station is practical for early departures and for onward travel by train or coach.

Plac Grunwaldzki lies east of the Old Town on the Oder. Wikipedia names the Grunwald Bridge, formerly the Kaiser Bridge, as a notable landmark on the river, and describes Wrocław as one of the most youth-oriented cities in Poland, with over 130,000 students. It suits longer stays where daily tram travel matters.

The Centennial Hall was built in 1911 to 1913 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visitor portal also lists the UNESCO Multimedia Fountain at the hall, Zoo Wrocław with the Afrykarium, and Kolejkowo, described as the largest model railroad in Poland, among attractions, and Wikivoyage places the Four Domes Pavilion next to the hall, so check a map for walking distances from your apartment.
Copernicus Airport Wrocław is served by LOT, KLM, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Ryanair and Wizz Air, according to Wikivoyage. It lists bus 106 from the terminal to the centre during the day roughly every twenty minutes, with a night bus 206 that takes about an hour. Check the current timetable before travelling. Trains from Warsaw, Kraków and Poznań arrive at Wrocław Główny, and the PKS Centrum coach station is behind it.
The city's public transport is run by MPK Wrocław, which also offers tourist lines and the so-called legendary line 0, and sells tickets through the URBANCARD system. Wikivoyage counts 57 bus lines, 22 tram lines and 13 night bus lines, though figures may have changed. The Old Town is compact enough to explore on foot. The visitor portal also lists Oder river cruises, park and ride facilities and bicycle, scooter and melex rentals.
For longer stays, the Hala Targowa market hall, which Wikivoyage lists for fresh produce and pierogi, is a good source of ingredients, and Plac Solny currently hosts a flower market. Choose a base along a tram route if you will commute, since Wikivoyage describes a large tram network.

Wikipedia classes Wrocław's climate as oceanic, bordering on humid continental, and calls it the warmest city in Poland among those tracked by the national meteorological institute, with a mean annual temperature of 9.7°C. It says snow may fall in any month from October to May but normally does so in winter, so pack for cold spells from late autumn.
The official visitor portal lists events by month: Jazz on the Oder in April, the Dwarf Festival in September, Jazztopad in November and the Christmas Market in December. Wikivoyage lists the Wratislavia Cantans festival in September and the Dialog Festival in October. Dates vary each year, so confirm before booking.
