Levante is the long beach on the Old Town's eastern side, one of the three Blue Flag beaches Wikipedia names alongside Poniente and Mal Pas. Wikivoyage describes the area as lively and ideal for families and groups, and the official Benidorm tourism site calls its promenade animated. It is the best choice if you want the beach and evening entertainment close together.

Poniente is the beach south of the port, which Wikivoyage calls a more sedate Blue Flag beach, ideal for beach holidays and quiet. It is a calmer base than Levante, though you will still be in a resort of tall buildings. Check the walking distance from your apartment to the sand.

The Old Town lies between Levante and Poniente, where the official Benidorm tourism site places the small Mal Pas beach. Wikivoyage says it is preferred by couples and mature visitors seeking a less frantic holiday, and that it retains some of the quaint past from when Benidorm was a small village. Both main beaches are within reach.

Rincón de Loix is at the far end of Avenida del Mediterráneo, which Wikipedia says links the Old Town with Rincón. Wikivoyage places the Aqualandia water park here and lists Mundomar, Terra Mítica and Terra Natura among the area's attractions. It suits families who plan several days on the beach and at the parks. Getting around Benidorm

The official Benidorm tourism site gives 40 to 45 minutes for taxi or private transfer from Alicante airport, and Wikivoyage gives 30 to 45 minutes for private transfers, adding that online shuttle services also run from the terminal. Wikivoyage also notes the airport is served by over 30 airlines. The TRAM Alicante light rail connects Benidorm and Alicante on line L1 in about 69 minutes, with the hourly L9 running to Dénia. Wikipedia says trams run at least every half hour between Benidorm and Alicante.

Local buses run until midnight according to Wikivoyage, with night buses after that, and a Tourist Card valid for 24 hours, 3 days or 7 days is available for frequent bus users. Benidorm is close to the A7 motorway. Much of the beach front can be covered on foot.

Living in Benidorm for longer

Benidorm has over 1,000 restaurants according to Wikivoyage, and Wikipedia counts more than 3,000 sunshine hours a year. Wikivoyage says Benidorm attracts Spanish visitors as well as retired British residents.

A kitchen in your apartment lets you shop locally rather than eating out every day. Check where the supermarkets and bus stops are relative to your building, as the resort runs along a long seafront.

When to visit Benidorm

Wikipedia describes a hot semi-arid climate with mild winters, slightly under 300 mm of rain a year and more than 3,000 hours of sunshine. Winter temperatures average around 17 °C and summer highs reach 28 to 32 °C. Wikivoyage says daytime temperatures rarely fall below 18 °C.

Wikipedia mentions Benidorm Fest, which determines Spain's Eurovision entry. Check dates for events during your visit, as accommodation can be in demand.

Wikivoyage describes four kilometres of sandy beaches and more than a thousand places to eat and drink. Other Costa Blanca bases are on the Spain hub, including Alicante, which has the nearest airport.
