Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Riyadh

191 stays · 175 aparthotels and 16 serviced apartments · from €169/night

Riyadh is Saudi Arabia's capital and a city of around 7.7 million people, and most visitors come for business, conventions or the growing calendar of concerts and events. Aparthotels and serviced apartments in Riyadh suit that pattern well: the city is vast and built around the car, summer days are too hot to spend outside, and a self-contained apartment with a kitchen and living space makes long working trips, project rotations and family visits far more comfortable than a single hotel room.

Where to stay in Riyadh

Olaya and Sulaimaniyah

  • business travel
  • shopping
  • first-time visitors

The main business district, framed by King Fahd Road and Olaya Road, the city's upscale shopping strip. Faisaliah Tower and Kingdom Centre mark its southern and northern ends. The metro Blue Line runs along Olaya Road for most of its length, which makes this the easiest district to live in without a car.

King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD)

  • business travel
  • long stays
  • airport access

A cluster of skyscrapers built to concentrate the country's financial firms, with a wide range of restaurants and walkable car-free areas. It is the interchange between the Blue Line and the Yellow Line to the airport, so it is the best-connected base for frequent flyers.

Hittin and the north-west

  • entertainment
  • families
  • events

Hittin is home to Boulevard City and the adjoining Boulevard World, key venues of Riyadh Season, with shopping, arcades and restaurants that fill an evening. Weekend traffic during the season can be heavy, so it suits those who want entertainment on the doorstep.

Diriyah

  • culture
  • couples
  • dining

The ancestral home of the Saudi royal family on the north-western outskirts, about 15 km from KAFD. Its at-Turaif district is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Bujairi Terrace across Wadi Hanifa has been restored as a dining quarter. Entry to the historic area requires a Diriyah Access Pass.

Al-Murabba and al-Bathaa

  • culture
  • budget travel
  • markets

The historic core south of Makkah Road. Al-Murabba holds the King Abdul Aziz Historical Park with the National Museum and Murabba Palace; al-Bathaa, a kilometre south, has the city's cheapest food and shopping and is one of the few areas best explored on foot. Masmak Fortress and the souqs of Deira are close by.

Getting around Riyadh

King Khalid International Airport (RUH) is about 35 km north of the city. The metro Yellow Line serves the airport terminals and runs to KAFD, where it meets the Blue Line. Taxis wait at ranks outside arrivals, and Uber and Careem both operate; ignore touts in the hall. By road, allow about 30 minutes to the centre in light traffic.

The six-line Riyadh Metro was inaugurated in late 2024 and runs from 06:00 to midnight. Tickets include connecting Riyadh Bus rides, gates accept contactless cards, and the Darb app and card cover journeys and route planning. Taxis and ride-hailing remain the norm for door-to-door trips. Central Riyadh jams up most afternoons from about 16:00 to 19:00, and the northern districts are hard going on foot, with wide, fast roads and few crossings.

Living in Riyadh for longer

Pick a base within reach of a metro station and buy three-day, seven-day or 30-day passes rather than single tickets. Street addresses are less useful than landmarks, so save your building's location as a map pin and share it with drivers; many signs are in English, but some exits and streets are marked only in Arabic.

Many shopping malls include large supermarkets such as Carrefour. Cycling is limited to a small network of protected paths, mainly in Wadi Hanifa and on Sports Boulevard. For trips to the Red Sea coast, see Jeddah and our other cities in Saudi Arabia.

When to visit Riyadh

Riyadh has a dry desert climate. Summer temperatures regularly approach 50°C in late July and August, while winter nights can fall below freezing, and sandy haze is common when the wind blows. The most comfortable months are October to November and February to March, with warm days and cool evenings.

Riyadh Season runs from roughly October to April, with open-air venues such as Boulevard World opening in the cooler weather. The Soundstorm music festival is held in December, and the Janadriyah heritage village reopened in January 2026 alongside a royal camel festival.

Location matters more than in most cities. The modern business districts of Olaya and Sulaimaniyah, and the newer King Abdullah Financial District, sit north of Makkah Road; the historic core of al-Murabba, al-Bathaa and Deira lies to the south. Choose a base near your office or a metro station and you will spend far less time in traffic. Weighing up formats? Our guide to aparthotels versus hotels covers the trade-offs.
