Tabuk is the capital of the province of the same name in north-western Saudi Arabia, a city of roughly 594,000 people according to Wikipedia's reading of the 2022 census. People come for work, for regional business and for the historic sights, and many stay several nights or weeks, which is where aparthotels and serviced apartments in Tabuk make sense: a kitchen, a separate sitting area and more space than a standard room are useful on a long assignment or a family trip.

Tabuk Castle, a sixteenth-century Ottoman fortress, stands in the historic centre. It was built to protect a water station and served as one of the stations for pilgrims on the Hajj route, and according to Wikipedia and Saudipedia it has been restored and now serves as a museum open to visitors. Wikivoyage also lists Tabuk Museum, housed in the former Hejaz railway station, and the main mosque, whose current structure dates to 1651.
Stays in or near Old town and Tabuk Castle
Prince Sultan Road is where Wikivoyage places the city's listed accommodation. To reach the old town from here, the options are a taxi, ride-hailing or the SAPTCO city bus network.
Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport (TUU) serves the city. Wikipedia describes it as a joint civil-military airport whose passenger terminal opened in April 2011, and lists scheduled flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and some regional cities such as Cairo, Sharjah and Doha. Staying nearby makes sense only for an early departure.
The airport is the main way in by air; Wikipedia lists services by Saudia, flynas, flyadeal, Air Arabia and Qatar Airways, although schedules change and should be checked with the airlines. There is road access to the Red Sea coast: the nearest coastal town, Duba, is 195 km from Tabuk via Route 80, a drive of over two and a half hours.
Inside the city, Tabuk now has a public bus network run by SAPTCO. The operator's page describes 30 buses, 106 stops and service from 5.30 am to 11.30 pm every day, with a mobile app for trip planning, and says the network covers most attractions in the city. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the other practical options.
For a longer stay, a serviced apartment with a kitchen cuts down on eating out, and being on or near Prince Sultan Road puts you close to the modern business and hotel zone. The University of Tabuk, established in 2006 according to Wikipedia, is one of the city's larger institutions. For comparison with other Saudi cities, see Riyadh and Jeddah.
If you are relocating for work, the guide to serviced apartments for relocation explains what to look for. On days off, the castle, the museum at the former railway station and the nearby archaeological sites such as Al Bidaa, listed by Wikivoyage, make easy outings.
Wikipedia classifies Tabuk as having a desert climate with hot summers and mild winters, with a record high of 44 degrees Celsius, a record low of minus 7 and annual precipitation of only 27.8 mm. Wikivoyage adds that summer temperatures range from about 26 to 46 degrees, that winter temperatures range from 4 to 18 degrees with frequent frosts, and that rain falls between November and March, with snow not uncommon every three or four years.
That pattern points to the cooler months, roughly November to March, for sightseeing on foot, while the summer months suit trips where you move between air-conditioned places. Pack for cold nights if you travel in winter.
The choice of area still shapes your days. The areas below cover the historic centre around Tabuk Castle, the Prince Sultan Road corridor where Wikivoyage lists accommodation, and the area near the airport. For wider planning, see Saudi Arabia, or the guide on what an aparthotel is.
