Pambula is the twin town of Merimbula, about 4 km to the south. It was proclaimed a town in 1885 and has heritage-listed sites including the Historic Grange and the Pambula Courthouse, whose foundation stone was laid in 1860. Pambula is a significant oyster producer, with farms on the Pambula River, and it has a small supermarket.
Tura Beach is about 6 km north of Merimbula. It grew from the first purpose-built integrated golf course and housing development in Australia, and the Tura Beach Country Club has golf, bowling and tennis facilities. There are two shopping centres, one opened in 2010, and the Tura Beach Flora Reserve preserves a remnant of coastal eucalypt forest.
Eden lies on Twofold Bay, which Wikipedia describes as the third-deepest natural harbour in the southern hemisphere, and it is the most southerly town in New South Wales. The Killer Whale Museum displays the skeleton of Old Tom, the only complete killer whale skeleton exhibited in the Southern Hemisphere. Eden is also New South Wales's largest fishing port.
Merimbula Airport is about 2 km south of the town and is owned and operated by Bega Valley Shire Council. Wikipedia lists QantasLink and Rex services to Sydney, Rex services to Melbourne and Moruya, and seasonal QantasLink flights to Melbourne. Premier Motor Services runs a twice-daily coach between Sydney and Eden, stopping at Merimbula, according to Wikivoyage. By road, Wikivoyage gives about 3 to 3.5 hours from Canberra, and the Princes Highway is the main route.
The town centre is walkable, with limited weekday buses from Sapphire Coast Bus Lines and taxis available. For Pambula, Tura Beach and Eden, a car is the simplest way to travel.
Pambula has a small supermarket, and Tura Beach has two shopping centres with dining, health and retail services. Merimbula itself is walkable, so if you are staying for several weeks it makes sense to be close to the town centre and to hire a car only if you plan to see the wider coast.
