Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Mooloolaba

35 stays · 10 aparthotels and 25 serviced apartments · from €166/night

Mooloolaba is a beach town where much of the seafront is lined with apartment buildings, so aparthotels and serviced apartments are the natural way to stay. A kitchen makes sense in a place known for prawns and fish landed at its own harbour, and the extra space suits families spending a week or two on the Sunshine Coast, as well as couples who want a balcony over the bay rather than a single hotel room.

Immediately north of Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland sits on the coast between the town and Maroochydore. Maroochydore

  • business travel

Maroochydore is the Sunshine Coast's main commercial centre, home to the Sunshine Plaza shopping centre and the region's main bus interchange. It suits longer stays and work trips, with the river, beaches and frequent buses to Mooloolaba all close by.

Minyama and Kawana Waters

  • families
  • boating
  • long stays

Across the Mooloolah River, Minyama is a residential suburb almost entirely surrounded by water, laid out around man-made harbours and canals. Kawana Shoppingworld is just outside it, which suits families and longer stays, while the beach and The Wharf remain a short drive away.

Getting around Mooloolaba

From Brisbane, the drive takes about an hour via the M1 and motorways, depending on traffic. Without a car, take a Queensland Rail train towards Nambour or Landsborough and connect by bus, or use a coach service. Locally, Translink buses run between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore; the Translink app or journey planner gives times, and contactless bank cards and go cards are accepted across South East Queensland. Living in Mooloolaba for longer

For weekly shopping, Maroochydore's Sunshine Plaza and the shops in its central business district are the main option, a short bus ride away. The Wharf and the Esplanade cover cafés and seafood, with Mooloolaba described by Visit Sunshine Coast as one of Australia's busiest fishing ports.

Mooloolaba is compact, but the wider Sunshine Coast is a string of separate towns rather than one city with a single centre. If you plan day trips to the hinterland or north to Noosa Heads, a hire car makes life easier; for errands within town, a bike and the Coastal Pathway are enough.
