80 stays · 65 aparthotels and 15 serviced apartments · from €140/night
Sydney is a spread-out harbour city where many visitors stay for weeks, whether on a work posting, a family visit or the start of a longer trip around Australia, so aparthotels and serviced apartments are a natural fit. A full kitchen, laundry and a separate bedroom make a real difference over a long stay, and they suit families heading for the beaches as well as business travellers working in the CBD or Parramatta.

The city centre holds the government and finance districts and the Opera House, while The Rocks next door is the historic colonial quarter by the Harbour Bridge. Circular Quay is the hub for ferries, and the Sydney Metro now runs under the CBD through Martin Place and Central.
Stays in or near CBD and The Rocks
A former industrial port turned leisure precinct on the western edge of the CBD, with the ICC Sydney convention centre, the Australian National Maritime Museum, the aquarium and the Chinese Garden of Friendship. The Inner West Light Rail and ferries serve the area, along with the Goods Line walkway.
Stays in or near Darling Harbour and Pyrmont
An inner-city suburb immediately south-east of the CBD, with Victorian terraces and one of the highest concentrations of restaurants in Sydney along Crown Street. Central station is on its western edge and the light rail stops on Devonshire Street, and the CBD is within easy walking distance.
Stays in or near Surry Hills
Sydney's best-known beach, about 7 km east of the CBD, with the cafés and restaurants of Campbell Parade, the Icebergs ocean pool and the start of the coastal walk to Coogee. Buses connect the beach with Bondi Junction station for trains into the city.
Stays in or near Bondi Beach
A seaside suburb 17 km north-east of the CBD, linked to Circular Quay by the Manly ferry across the harbour. The Corso, a pedestrian street of cafés and restaurants, runs from the ferry wharf to the ocean beach.
Stays in or near Manly
Widely regarded as Sydney's second CBD, about 24 km west of the city centre, with government agencies, corporate offices and Western Sydney University campuses. It is served by three train lines, the new Parramatta Light Rail and the Parramatta River ferry, and has one of Australia's largest shopping centres.
Stays in or near Parramatta
Sydney Airport is about 9 km from the city centre. The T8 Airport & South Line runs from the Domestic and International stations to Central and the City Circle; a station access fee applies at the two airport stations on top of the normal fare. Taxis and ride-hailing are the alternatives.
One Opal ticketing system covers trains, Sydney Metro, light rail, ferries and buses, and you can tap on and off with an Opal card or a contactless bank card. Fares are capped daily and weekly, and off-peak fares, including all of Friday to Sunday, are discounted. The driverless M1 Metro line now runs from the north-west through the CBD to Sydenham, and harbour ferries from Circular Quay are both practical and scenic.
The daily and weekly Opal fare caps make a long stay easy to budget for: tap the same card or bank card every time so the caps apply automatically. An apartment near a train or Metro station will save more time than one near the beach if you are commuting to the CBD or Parramatta.
Inner suburbs such as Surry Hills have dense, walkable streets with cafés and food shops, while Parramatta's big shopping centre covers most everyday needs. In summer heatwaves, western suburbs can be up to 10°C hotter than the coast, so air-conditioning matters more the further west you stay.
Sydney has a humid subtropical climate with warm summers, when average highs are around 26°C, and mild winters with highs of about 17°C. Rain is heaviest in late summer and early autumn, and winter tends to be sunnier than summer.
January brings the Sydney Festival, the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras runs in February and March, Vivid Sydney lights up the city in May and June, and New Year's Eve fireworks over the harbour close the year.
