Thomas Drive is the main road, and bridges connect the island to mainland Surfers Paradise to the east and to Southport to the west. Surfers Paradise is compact, and you can walk between much of the accommodation, Cavill Mall and the beaches; walking can take less time than finding a parking space close to the centre. Public transport in South East Queensland is covered by Translink, whose journey planner includes buses and trams. Buses and the G:link tram provide public transport for the Gold Coast, and the tram runs from Helensvale through Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads.
Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta is a 30-minute taxi ride from this part of the Gold Coast, and the airport's own website lists taxi, bus and rideshare options. From Brisbane, Queensland Rail trains run to Helensvale, where the tram connects on to Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. Driving from Brisbane Airport takes about 80 minutes.
