9 stays · 4 aparthotels and 5 serviced apartments
Aparthotels and serviced apartments are a natural fit for Cervia, an Adriatic resort town in the Province of Ravenna where many guests come for a week or two of beach time. A kitchen makes family meals easier, and extra living space helps when children need an early night. Wikipedia describes 9 kilometres of equipped beach and a pine forest of about 260 hectares across Milano Marittima, Cervia, Pinarella and Tagliata. For the format, see aparthotel vs hotel.

The historic part of Cervia is where the salt and fishing heritage is easiest to see. The municipal tourism site lists the harbour with its lugsail fishing boats, the Borgomarina fishermen's quarter, the Torre San Michele and the MUSA salt museum. Wikivoyage says the compact centre is walkable and that most people get about by bicycle.

Wikivoyage describes Milano Marittima as the upscale shopping district, just across a canal from the centre, and a hub for boutiques and nightlife. Wikipedia includes it in the municipality's pine forest. It is the resort side of Cervia and is a good choice if you want shops and evening activity close at hand.

Pinarella is one of the four resort areas Wikipedia names in the municipality's pine forest and beach belt. It lies south-east of Cervia town along the coast, which makes it a practical base for families who want sand and trees rather than a busy centre.
Stays in or near Pinarella
Tagliata is one of the four resort areas Wikipedia lists for the pine forest and beaches, lying south of Pinarella. It suits guests who prefer a calmer pace and are happy to cycle to Cervia for restaurants and sights.
The salt pan lies inland of the beach resorts. The Cervia Saline Visitor Center offers guided tours and excursions on foot, by bike and by electric boat, and the municipal tourism site describes a nest path for birdwatching on foot or by bike depending on the season. It is a good half-day excursion from any of the beach areas.
Wikivoyage says Cervia has no commercial airport, only a military one on its outskirts, and names Rimini and Forlì airports as the practical alternatives, each about an hour away. The Cervia-Milano Marittima station is on the Adriatic coastal line through Ravenna, Rimini and Ancona, so the train is a straightforward way to arrive without a car.
Once you are in town, bicycles are the preferred way to get around, according to Wikivoyage, and shops rent them. The centre is compact and walkable, and Milano Marittima sits just over a canal. Most people also use bikes for the pine forest and the salt pan.
Outside the summer rush, Wikivoyage says the resort becomes quiet and the population falls sharply, which suits slow stays but means some seasonal businesses are closed. Cervia's apartment-style stays are worth considering if you want to cook with local ingredients; the municipal site highlights the area's sweet salt, which has had Slow Food presidium status since 2004.
If you plan to base yourself for a month or more, the Cervia-Milano Marittima station gives a rail link along the coast, and bikes cover the short distances to the resort areas. Our guide to serviced apartments for relocation has practical questions to ask.
Wikipedia describes a humid subtropical climate. Wikivoyage says summer brings the tourists and activity, while winter is quiet. Guided tours of the Camillone saltpan run from June to September.
The Sapore di Sale salt festival takes place in early September, according to the municipal tourism site and the regional tourism board. Wikipedia also describes the Marriage of the Sea, held on Ascension Day, a tradition it dates to 1445.
Cervia is also a salt town. The municipal tourism site calls it a town linked for generations to fishermen and salt-workers, and the last of the 144 historic saltworks, Camillone, still stands. For the wider region, see Italy and the neighbouring resort of Rimini.
