Marina di Camerota is the seaside port of Camerota, on the southern Cilento coast of Campania, inside the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. Wikipedia lists Pisciotta-Palinuro, 20 km away on the Naples-Reggio Calabria line, as the nearest railway station, and Live Salerno describes taking a regional or intercity train from Salerno or Naples to Sapri, then an Infante bus to Marina di Camerota. The same guide gives a driving time of about 120 minutes from Salerno and 45 minutes from Sapri, with buses from Palinuro and Sapri.
A seasonal hydrofoil service called Metrò del Mare is listed by Live Salerno from Salerno and Naples between June and August, and Wikipedia says the port is linked to both cities by hydrofoil. Within town the main beaches are a short walk apart, and Wikipedia gives Camerota as 5 km away, Palinuro 8 km and Policastro 25 km.
Marina di Camerota is small, so daily life is built around the harbour, the beaches and the footpaths. Wikipedia notes that the coast has had Blue Flag status for its beaches every year since 2000, and the Mingardo beaches run along the coast towards Palinuro for longer walks. Camerota, 5 km away, is the hill town the municipality is named after.
The area suits an active holiday: the Infreschi footpath links the town with Baia degli Infreschi and takes around three hours on foot, according to Live Salerno, while boat trips explore the sea caves, including the Lovers' Cave and the Blue Grotto.
