Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Fethiye

58 stays · 44 aparthotels and 14 serviced apartments

Fethiye is a working harbour town on Turkey's south-west coast that doubles as a base for beaches, boat trips, paragliding and walks on the Lycian Way. Many visitors come for a week or two, often as families or groups, so aparthotels and serviced apartments in Fethiye are a sensible choice: a kitchen for breakfasts and market produce, a fridge for cold drinks on hot days and space to spread out make a long beach holiday easier than a single hotel room.

The centre spreads east from the marina along Atatürk Caddesi, with the fish market, shops and bars, and the Lycian rock tombs, including the Tomb of Amyntas from around 350 BC, carved into the cliffs above. Daily boat cruises leave from the harbour. It is the best base for year-round services and dolmuş connections.

Çalış is Fethiye's main town beach, a long stretch of mostly shingle shore with hotels and a seafront promenade along Barış Manço Boulevard. It is flat and easy to get around, and dolmuş run frequently to the town centre. Expect a more resort-style feel than the old town.

Up in the hills above Ölüdeniz, Hisarönü grew from a small village into a large resort after 1990, alongside neighbouring Ovacık, and it is particularly popular with British holidaymakers. Because construction at Ölüdeniz is restricted, much of the area's accommodation is here. Dolmuş run down to the beach and into Fethiye.

About 14 km south of Fethiye, Ölüdeniz is known for its sheltered Blue Lagoon, a protected nature reserve, and a Blue Flag beach. Paragliders launch from Mount Babadağ above, and the Lycian Way long-distance trail heads off along the coast from here. Accommodation is limited by building restrictions, so book early.

Getting around Fethiye

Dalaman Airport is about an hour west of Fethiye, and Havaş buses run from the airport to the town in roughly an hour. Long-distance coaches connect Fethiye with Antalya in about three and a half hours and with Istanbul in about 14 hours.

Around the area, dolmuş minibuses run frequently from the town centre to Çalış, Karagözler, Hisarönü and Ölüdeniz until around 11pm. A water taxi crosses to Fethiye Island in the bay, and car and scooter hire is widely available for trips to Saklıkent Canyon, Butterfly Valley or Kayaköy.

Walkers can follow the Lycian Way from the Fethiye area; one popular section runs about 9 km over the hill to the abandoned village of Kayaköy.

Living in Fethiye for longer

Fethiye's farmers' market, held on Tuesdays and Fridays in the square facing the football stadium, is the place for fresh produce, and the covered fish market in the centre is surrounded by restaurants. Together they make self-catering in an apartment easy.

If you are staying for a month or more, the town centre or Çalış puts shops, services and the widest choice of dolmuş routes on your doorstep, while the resorts in the hills are more seasonal. Exploring further along the coast? See our pages for Kaş and Marmaris.
