Aparthotels & serviced apartments in Ho Chi Minh City

300 stays · 292 aparthotels and 8 serviced apartments · from €103/night

Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam's largest city and its economic and financial centre, which brings a steady stream of business travellers, project teams and relocating families. Aparthotels and serviced apartments in Ho Chi Minh City give you the space and kitchen that hotel rooms lack, and a fixed base matters here: traffic slows to a crawl for much of the day and the heat makes long walks impractical, so living close to your office, school or favourite streets makes daily life far easier.

Getting around Ho Chi Minh City

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is only about 8 km from the city centre, and the main buses are air-conditioned: route 152 is a regular city bus and route 109 is an express service, with tickets sold in the terminal. Taxis and ride-hailing cars are the alternative; allow extra time in rush hours (roughly 07:00–08:30 and 16:30–18:00).

Metro Line 1, opened in December 2024, runs from Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien and the new eastern bus terminus in about 30 minutes, with trains every 8–12 minutes from 05:00 to 22:00. Gates accept contactless Visa and Mastercard, and stations have English signage and lifts. Elsewhere, use Grab, Xanh SM or be for cars and motorbike taxis; for metered taxis, Mai Linh and Vinasun are the companies most often recommended. Have addresses written in Vietnamese, as many drivers speak little English.

Living in Ho Chi Minh City for longer

Day and monthly metro tickets are sold through the HURC app, and reloadable smart cards are available from station machines. AEON Citimart runs around 22 supermarkets across the city, and the larger shopping centres in Phu My Hung cover most household needs.

Ben Thanh Market trades from about 06:00 to 18:00 and then becomes a night market until 22:00. English is widely spoken among younger residents, and the city's Chinese community in Cholon, its Chinatown, adds Cantonese and Teochew to the mix. Ride-hailing motorbike taxis are the quickest way through traffic. If you are continuing north, compare our pages for Hanoi and the rest of Vietnam.

When to visit Ho Chi Minh City

The city has a tropical climate with two seasons. The dry season runs from December to May, and December to February is the most comfortable period, with lower temperatures and humidity. March and April are the hottest months and can reach 40°C. The wet season, roughly May to October, brings heat, humidity and heavy showers, with spells of sunshine in between.

The biggest event is Tet (Lunar New Year) in January or February, when Nguyen Hue in the city centre is turned into a flower street lined with displays.

Most visitors still call the centre Saigon, the city's name before 1975. The old downtown on the west bank of the Saigon River has the colonial landmarks, markets and nightlife; across the river lie Thao Dien and the new Thu Thiem quarter, and the planned Phu My Hung district to the south suits families.
